CAIT hosting RIPE NCC in Kuwait: Member Lunch and IPv6 Training Workshop

Kuwait, 17 April: The Central Agency for Information Technology (CIAT) in cooperation with RIPE NCC, organised IPv6 and DNSSEC technical trainings from 11 to 14 April 2016 at the CAIT headquarter in Kuwait. A total of 27 private and governmental bodies participated in the workshops. The training followed a lunch for RIPE NCC members in Kuwait.

In this context, Mr. Qusai Al-Shatti, acting Director General for Information Technology at CIAT said, “The implementation of IPv6 will contribute positively in accelerating the progress of our future plans that are aimed at expanding and extending our networks and interconnected services for the public and private sector in the State of Kuwait. Due to the significant impact of IPv6, CIAT is keen to communicate and cooperate with private and governmental bodies to adopt the protocol in all our networks and services.”

Paul Rendek, Director of External Relations at the RIPE NCC, was also positive about the cooperation with CIAT. “We are enthusiastic about empowering the local community, which comes from our strategic partnership with CAIT in Kuwait. This can translate into real gains in terms of capacity and talent building. The training course provides technical people in the State of Kuwait with a unique opportunity to become experts in IPv6 and supports knowledge exchange for IPv6 deployment locally and regionally.”

The core objective of the IPv6 and DNSSEC training was to allow participants to recognise the importance of deploying this latest version of the Internet protocol on their networks, build technical capacity, and support the transition to IPv6 in the coming years.
